The official name of this little beast is “Collared Lizard”. In Oklahoma we call it the “Mountain Boomer”, a far more colorful name for a colorful little lizard. This is a female and, like many species, it is more conservatively attired than is the male who has a bright turquoise body and yellow head. She posed nicely and put herself in just the ideal light. The photograph was made in the Wichita Mountains of southwestern Oklahoma.
